Moving Beyond HOPE

Do you HOPE that one day you will...

  • Be happy?

  • Lose weight?

  • Be healthy?

  • Age well?

  • Have a better marriage?

  • Have a better career?

  • Have more money?

I could go on and on with all the things we "hope" for in life. Maybe you have one of these hopes. Maybe you have all of these hopes. Or maybe you have your own list.

WHAT IS HOPE?

Hope is a positive and optimistic feeling, a belief that things can improve or change for the better. It often serves as a motivator during challenging times.

Hope is a beautiful sentiment that often fuels our aspirations and dreams. It provides comfort during challenging times, fostering a sense of optimism. However, relying solely on hope may not be the most effective approach to achieving our goals.

Let me give you a few examples...

When my son was diagnosed with leukemia do you know how many times I heard

"I hope you son is doing well.

" I hope your son will get through this."

"I hope...

These were all nice things to hear as I know they were all sincere and from the heart. But it didn't change the situation. We had all hoped for this.

My hopes through this time were more of "I hope I have the strength to get through this."

I didn't know from day to day what it would look like. What I did know was I needed to prepare myself for good days and bad days. I needed to prepare myself for whatever Dylan needed that day. But hope was getting me nowhere I needed to take actions of my thoughts.

Ever since I can remember I have "hoped" to work for myself doing what I love, doing what sparks my interest daily. I went back to school to become a Holistic Nutritionist and I thought "this is it, I can finally do what I have always wanted!"

Sadly, life happened and my business took the back burner for multiple years. I went back to working meaningless jobs to make ends meet. I went back to hoping one day I will restart my dreams.

I knew I needed to change my mindset in order for my hopes to become reality.

Hope need actions to move anything forward.

Will you need to step out of your comfort zone to make it happen? Absolutely!

Whatever your hope is take that idea and transform it into reality.

Here are 6 Steps into making it happen:

  1. Hope is Passive, Action is Active: Hope, by its nature, is a passive emotion. It involves wishing for positive outcomes but doesn't necessarily involve direct effort or initiative. On the contrary, taking action requires an active engagement with the challenges at hand, providing a tangible pathway to bring about change.

  2. Turning Hope into Action: While hope can be a great starting point, it becomes truly powerful when it serves as a catalyst for action. Rather than merely wishing for a better future, individuals can channel their hope into setting clear goals and developing concrete plans. Action turns abstract aspirations into tangible steps forward.

  3. Overcoming Inertia: Hope can sometimes lead to complacency. People might find comfort in the belief that things will get better without actively participating in the process. Taking action, however, breaks the inertia and propels individuals towards their objectives. It transforms hope from a passive state into a dynamic force.

  4. Learning and Adaptation: Actions provide opportunities for learning and adaptation. When individuals take steps toward their goals, they gain insights, acquire skills, and adapt to challenges. This active engagement with the journey enhances personal growth and resilience, creating a more robust foundation for success.

  5. Building Confidence: Success achieved through action boosts confidence and self-efficacy. Each accomplishment, no matter how small, reinforces the belief that one has the power to shape their destiny. This self-assurance becomes a driving force, far more impactful than the passive anticipation that hope alone provides.

  6. Navigating Uncertainty: Hope can be fragile in the face of uncertainty. Actions, on the other hand, provide a sense of control in navigating unpredictable circumstances. Taking steps toward a goal allows individuals to adapt to changing situations and make informed decisions, even when the future is uncertain.

Hope is a valuable emotional resource that can inspire and uplift. However, its true power is unleashed when it transforms into action. Taking deliberate and decisive steps towards one's goals not only propels the journey forward but also ensures a more active and engaged approach to shaping a brighter future.

So, let hope be the spark, but let action be the flame that lights the way.

Trust me I know life is to short to not take action. You deserve your best life!

What are some of your hopes?

How do you plan to act on them to make it reality?
